Why use Principia to commission your CM processes?

I have implemented a number of CM systems over my career and have experienced almost every form of IT environment in so doing. I have extensive knowledge of CM from both a theoretical and practical background, this serves my clients well in providing pragmatic, practical CM systems that meet the highest standards demanded by professional IT organisations.

The longer-term commitment required for successful commissioning means that I cannot always be available for the entire project. Rather than disappoint clients I use CM specialists from a selected group of CM consultants whose work I either know personally, or who have been recommended by consultants I hold in high regard. This ensures that you have the highest standard consultants available to work on your project.

How does the CM Commissioning service work?

The starting point for a project will obviously vary from client to client. I typically find that clients have several nascent CM systems in place when they contact me. For these clients I undertake an initial survey and propose a alternative courses of action based on what I find. This typically results in one of two project forms; either a rationalisation programme to reduce the number of CM systems, or a replacement programme if no existing system is suitable for rationalisation.

For clients that have no nascent CM systems, or who wish simply to develop "from scratch" I can survey the existing organisation (always essential in order that the CM system fits the organisation's 'personality'), then propose one or more outline CM systems (according to the results of the initial survey).

In both cases, once we have agreed the way forward, I then prepare a fully costed project proposal with a detailed plan.

Once we have agreed the plan I will engage any domain experts (over and above those to be supplied by you) required to fulfil the project plan.

Regardless of the consultants at your site I shall remain in overall control of the project and will meet with you regularly to ensure that the project is proceeding to your satisfaction.

How much will this service cost?

Every client has a different organisation and different requirements, so most services are bespoke.

Most of my services are negotiated on a fixed cost basis, so you know exactly what you will receive and how much it will cost you. Some clients prefer the commissioning service to be provided on a time and materials basis, so if this is your preference we can discuss this when we meet.

I discuss with each of my clients their specific requirements and then produce a detailed breakdown of the schedule of work and costs for your consideration.

To provide a rough guideline a simple CM commissioning project (for an IT organisation of up to 150 people working in close geographic locations) might consist of:

  • Initial survey (typically 2 or 3 days)
  • Initial survey report and options preparation (3 days)
  • Project planning and costing (10 days)
  • Agreements meeting (1 day)
  • Project man/days (90 day)

Obviously these illustrative numbers vary widely between projects.

You might expect to pay £107,000 for this example project.
